Yes. This is a disadvantage for 2 reasons:
The small ridge of the Rip stop is a wear point when folding canvas up repeatedly.
The ridge is also a slight water penetration point when combined with the propensity to wear. This explains why the ARB series 3 has increased canvas weight over series 2 |
Elected to not have Rip Stop for improved performance
The waterproofness of the poly cotton canvas is a function of the fineness, tightness of the weave and the position and layers of canvas material over pressure points.
The canvas material used has a "hydrostatic head pressure test of 750mm" This means a water column 750mm high over the test section of canvas will not allow 1 drop of water through in the test period |
